What Is in the Proudly Remembered Casket Spray

Every stem is indigenous, which is the whole point of it. King proteas anchor the spray, one pale and regal at the centre, others blushed deep pink, long a symbol of courage and lasting memory. Around them sit cerise proteas and bright orange pincushions, the fynbos flowers that survive the fires and return, which makes them a quiet emblem of resilience. Cream roses and white snapdragons bring softness and light, and it is all laid through cedar, leucadendron and fine pink erica, so the greenery feels alive rather than like filler. Find a Vase: Your lovely blooms need a drink! Put them in your favourite vase with fresh water as soon as possible.

Trim Those Stems: Keep those stems fresh by cutting them at an angle. This allows more water up the stem. Checking and trimming the stems every few days will keep them sound.

Gently Strip Leaves: Remove any excess leaves, especially from the part of the stem that will be submerged. This helps to avoid rot and bacteria, which can shorten your flowers life span.

Remove Old Blooms: Drooping flowers release ethylene gas, which may accelerate the aging of other flowers. Strip off any dead or dying flowers to keep the rest of the bouquet looking bright and fresh.

Keep Them Cool: Place your flowers away from heat sources such as heaters, televisions, or ovens to retain the beauty of your flowers.

Clean Water: Always place your flowers in clean water. Refresh your vase with water daily or at least every second day.
