In season

Seasonal wedding flowers in Cape Town

Fabulous Flowers plans every wedding around the Cape seasons. Josie van Aswegen’s March list, sent to Els and Shaun in 2024, ran to roses, lilies, delphinium, lisianthus, scabiosa and zinnias. Proteas depend on the weather and exports, and South African peonies are in season from mid-October to late January.

January 2026

March 2025

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do wedding flowers cost in South Africa?

The cost of wedding flowers in South Africa depends on guest numbers, the season and venue size. We quote by email after a short wedding questionnaire.

How far ahead should we book our wedding florist?

Most Fabulous Flowers couples here booked four to eight months ahead: Hanno and Madeli booked in July 2025 for March 2026.

Do you do weddings in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and the Winelands?

Yes. Fabulous Flowers has done weddings at Rickety Bridge, Franschhoek (2025), Nantes Estate, Paarl (2026), Webersburg, Stellenbosch (2026, Alex and Andrew), Cavalli Estate between Stellenbosch and Somerset West (2019) and Saronsberg, Tulbagh (2020, our founder’s daughter’s wedding). We travel anywhere in the Western Cape, and travel and accommodation for our team are quoted separately.

Do you set up and clear away?

Yes, both. The Fabulous Flowers team sets up on the day and comes back for our vases and candles: at Rickety Bridge in March 2025, we cleared the next morning.

Can our ceremony flowers move to the reception?

Yes. Fabulous Flowers designs ceremony pieces to move: Tess and Greg’s aisle urns went inside at Nantes Estate in January 2026.

Can we plan our wedding flowers from overseas?

Yes. Fabulous Flowers plans and quotes by email, and Danni and Lewt planned their Suikerbossie flowers from Brisbane for 29 August 2024.

Which flowers will be in season on our wedding date?

Fabulous Flowers builds every flower list around your month. South African peonies run from mid-October to late January, and proteas depend on the weather. See seasonal wedding flowers above.

Do you work with our wedding planner and venue?

Yes. Fabulous Flowers has worked with Willem Christiaan Events at Nantes Estate (2026), Kevin Zhou of VIP Hosting at Cavalli Estate (2019) and the De Uijlenes coordinator (2020).
