Does this artificial peony look real?

In our view, yes. The petals are layered dozens deep with a paler, almost ivory heart, the main stem branches into a second smaller bud above the open bloom the way a real garden peony does, and the foliage is the proper mid-green peony leaf with visible veining. Most people have to look closely to tell it is not fresh.

How big is the bloom?

It is a statement-size bloom, closer in scale to a mature garden peony than to a tight store-bought bud. There is also a smaller forming bud on its own side stem just above the main bloom. Exact diameters TBC — we will update this answer once we have measured the stem.

What colour is the peony — mauve or pink?

It reads as a soft pink-mauve. The photographs show a blush pink bloom with subtle mauve undertones, particularly in the forming bud where the colour is a little cooler. It sits comfortably in either a mauve or a soft pink palette and pairs beautifully with our other soft-pink artificial stems.

How long do artificial flowers last compared to fresh peonies?

Kept indoors and out of direct sunlight, silk peonies hold their colour for years with almost no maintenance. Fresh peonies are stunning and famously short-lived — typically four to five days in a vase, with a season in South Africa that runs only a few weeks a year. A silk stem removes all of that.

Can I use artificial peonies outdoors?

Indoor or covered-patio use only. Direct sun fades silk flowers over time, and rain will damage the petals. A protected shaded veranda is fine. Full South African sun is not.

Trim Those Stems: Keep those stems fresh by cutting them at an angle. This allows more water up the stem. Checking and trimming the stems every few days will keep them sound.

Gently Strip Leaves: Remove any excess leaves, especially from the part of the stem that will be submerged. This helps to avoid rot and bacteria, which can shorten your flowers' life span.

Remove Old Blooms: Drooping flowers release ethylene gas, which may accelerate the aging of other flowers. Strip off any dead or dying flowers to keep the rest of the bouquet looking bright and fresh.

Keep Them Cool: Place your flowers away from heat sources such as heaters, televisions, or ovens to retain the beauty of your flowers.

Clean Water: Always place your flowers in clean water. Refresh your vase with water daily or at least every second day.
