Heart and Bloom

A Peony and Rose Bouquet with a Flash of Blue

Heart and Bloom is a romantic peony and rose bouquet: coral peonies, peach and cream roses and sprays of blue delphinium, hand-tied in our Claremont studio and delivered the same day across Cape Town. The blue is what makes it. Set against warm coral and peach, it turns a pretty bouquet into one people stop and look at twice. Peonies are only with us for a short season, so this is a limited edition. You will find more of them in our peony collection.

What's in Heart and Bloom

• Coral peonies: full, ruffled heads that open and soften in colour over a few days
• Peach and apricot roses: the warm middle of the bouquet
• Cream and pale lemon roses: soft light between the brighter blooms
• Blue delphinium: tall spires for height, movement and contrast
• Delivery: same day in Cape Town when you order before 12pm, with a free handwritten card

Why Coral and Blue Work Together

Coral and blue sit on opposite sides of the colour wheel, so each one makes the other look brighter. Our florists keep the peonies and roses close together in the centre and let the delphinium reach out past the edges, which gives the bouquet a loose, just-picked shape rather than a tight dome. If you like this pairing, Electric Bloom takes the same idea and turns the colour up, with orange roses and purple stocks.

A Romantic Bouquet That Isn't Red Roses

Heart and Bloom was made for romance. It suits an anniversary, a date night, a birthday for the person you love, or a Tuesday when you want them to know. Peonies have long been linked with romance and good fortune, and pairing them with roses keeps the message clear without falling back on a dozen reds. For a bouquet of peonies alone, the Coral Sunset Peony Bouquet is ten stems of the same warm coral. More ideas sit in our romantic flowers.

Caring for Peonies and Roses Together

The peonies may arrive partly closed, and that is on purpose. They open over the next few days and last longer for it. Trim all the stems at an angle every two days, change the water often and remove any leaves below the waterline. Keep the vase out of direct sun and away from ripening fruit. If one peony is slow to open, roll the bud gently between your fingers. Our guide to peonies in South Africa has more care tips.

Fabulous Flowers and Gifts Fresh Flowers Care Instructions

Fresh Flowers

Find a Vase: Your lovely blooms need a drink! Put them in your favourite vase with fresh water as soon as possible.

Trim Those Stems: Keep those stems fresh by cutting them at an angle. This allows more water up the stem. Checking and trimming the stems every few days will keep them sound.

Gently Strip Leaves: Remove any excess leaves, especially from the part of the stem that will be submerged. This helps to avoid rot and bacteria, which can shorten your flowers life span.

Remove Old Blooms: Drooping flowers release ethylene gas, which may accelerate the aging of other flowers. Strip off any dead or dying flowers to keep the rest of the bouquet looking bright and fresh.

Keep Them Cool: Place your flowers away from heat sources such as heaters, televisions, or ovens to retain the beauty of your flowers.

Clean Water: Always place your flowers in clean water. Refresh your vase with water daily or at least every second day.

Gift Boxes

Storage Tips: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to keep contents in perfect condition.

Freshening: If your gift includes foods or beverages, please refer to the individual product use-by and expiry dates and the informational materials regarding storage recommendations:

Plants

Watering: Ensure your plants are hydrated but avoid overwatering. Check the soil moisture regularly and water it when the top inch feels dry.

Light: Place your plants in a spot where they receive the appropriate amount of light. Some prefer bright, indirect light, while others thrive in low-light conditions.

Feeding: Feed your plants with a balanced fertiliser every few weeks during the growing season to keep them healthy and vibrant.

Pruning: Regularly remove dead leaves and trim back overgrown branches to encourage new growth and maintain the plant shape.

Humidity: Some plants thrive in high humidity. If needed, mist your plants occasionally or place a humidifier nearby to create a favourable environment.

Artificial Flowers and Plants

Dusting: Your artificial flowers and botanicals should be lightly dusted regularly with a soft cloth or feather duster.

Light Washing: For deeper cleaning, please use a cloth lightly dampened with water and a small amount of mild detergent. Gently wipe the leaves and petals.

Avoid Direct: Sunlight Do not place under direct sunlight in order to prevent colours from fading.
