Why Coral Sunset Changes Colour

Coral Sunset is a semi-double peony with ruffled heads. On the first day it is a vivid coral, almost watermelon. As the petals open, the colour warms and fades towards peach and soft pink, and most vases end up holding a few shades at once. If you love the way a garden looks in late afternoon light, this is that, in a bouquet. You will find it alongside other blush and rose-toned stems in our pink peonies.

A Short Season, So Order Early

Fresh peonies are only in season in South Africa for a few months, roughly mid-October to late January, and Coral Sunset is one of the first to bloom. This is a limited edition bouquet, which means we carry it only while we can get good stems. When they are gone, they are gone until next season. How to Open and Care for Your Peonies

We send peonies in bud because they last longer that way, and watching them open is part of the gift. Trim the stems at an angle every two days, change the water often, and take off any leaves that sit below the waterline. Keep the vase out of direct sun and away from ripening fruit. If a bud is slow to open, roll it gently between your fingers or stand the stems in slightly warmer water for an hour. Cared for like this, peonies last around seven days.

When to Send Coral Sunset Peonies

Ten peonies is a generous, grown-up gift. It suits a birthday, an anniversary, a thank-you that needs to land properly, or a romantic gesture that does not want to look like every other bunch of red roses.
