The Story Behind Our Cupcakes

We started baking our own cupcakes after years of watching customers ask the same question at checkout: "Can you add something sweet to the bouquet?" We tried sourcing from outside bakeries and never loved the result. So we built our own small bakery inside the studio and trained our team to bake them fresh every morning. The real rose finish was our florist team's idea, and the edible glitter was the team's wedge to make it photographable. We have been doing it this way ever since.

The cupcake is the wink. The flowers are the gesture. Together they land differently.

Delivery: Cape Town Same-Day Only

The Single Vanilla Cupcake is freshly baked and perishable, so it delivers in Cape Town only, same-day on orders placed before 12pm Monday to Saturday. We deliver across Claremont, Sea Point, Camps Bay, Constantia, Newlands, Rondebosch, Green Point, the City Bowl, Southern Suburbs and the wider Cape Town network. As a fresh bakery item it does NOT ship by nationwide courier and is NOT available for Johannesburg same-day delivery (our JHB delivery network covers fresh flowers and shelf-stable items only).

How To Enjoy It

Enjoy the cupcake the day it arrives for best taste and freshness. The real rose petal is decorative only and should be removed before eating. The edible glitter is food-safe and tastes of nothing. Store sealed at cool room temperature, away from direct sunlight, and consume within 24 hours of delivery. If you cannot eat it that day, refrigerate and bring back to room temperature before serving.

Can I order the Single Vanilla Cupcake on its own?

No. The Single Vanilla Cupcake is an add-on only. It must be added to a flower bouquet, gift hamper, vase arrangement or other gift order in your cart. We do not deliver cupcakes as standalone items. If you want a cupcake-led gift, the Cupcake Bloom Box is our standalone cupcake-with-flowers product.

Where do you deliver this cupcake?

Cape Town only, same-day on orders placed before 12pm Monday to Saturday. As a freshly baked perishable item, the cupcake does NOT ship by nationwide courier and is NOT available for Johannesburg same-day delivery, even though our flowers are. If you are sending flowers to Johannesburg or another province, the cupcake add-on is not available on those orders.

Is the rose on top safe to eat?

The rose petal is decorative only. It is a fresh rose from our florist team, placed on the buttercream for the photogenic finish. Remove the rose petal before eating the cupcake. The edible glitter is food-safe and can be eaten.

What is the cupcake flavour?

Classic vanilla. A moist vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream icing. For the chocolate version, see the Single Chocolate Cupcake.

Does the cupcake contain alcohol or animal products?

No alcohol. It contains butter, eggs and dairy (standard vanilla cupcake ingredients), so it is vegetarian but not vegan. For specific dietary restrictions or allergies, email hello@fabulousflowers.co.za and we will tell you what we can and cannot accommodate that day.

What allergies should I be aware of?

The cupcake contains wheat, eggs, dairy and traces of nuts (our bakery is not a nut-free facility). For severe nut, gluten or dairy allergies, do not add this cupcake to your order. Email hello@fabulousflowers.co.za if you want to discuss alternatives.

How long does the cupcake stay fresh?

Best enjoyed the day it arrives. Store sealed at cool room temperature for up to 24 hours. If you cannot eat it that day, refrigerate it and bring it back to room temperature before serving. The texture is softest in the first 24 hours.

Can I order this for a future date?

Yes. Select your preferred delivery date at checkout on the main gift you are adding it to. The cupcake is freshly baked the morning of dispatch, so it always arrives fresh on the chosen day. For birthdays, Mother's Day and Valentine's, book at least a day or two ahead.

Can I add a personalised note?

Yes. The note goes with the main flower or hamper gift. Mention the cupcake in the note if you want to call it out ("the cupcake is for you to enjoy with your tea") or just let it be a surprise inside the delivery.

Can I upgrade to more cupcakes?

Fresh Flowers

Find a Vase: Your lovely blooms need a drink! Put them in your favourite vase with fresh water as soon as possible.

Trim Those Stems: Keep those stems fresh by cutting them at an angle. This allows more water up the stem. Checking and trimming the stems every few days will keep them sound.

Gently Strip Leaves: Remove any excess leaves, especially from the part of the stem that will be submerged. This helps to avoid rot and bacteria, which can shorten your flowers' life span.

Remove Old Blooms: Drooping flowers release ethylene gas, which may accelerate the aging of other flowers. Strip off any dead or dying flowers to keep the rest of the bouquet looking bright and fresh.

Keep Them Cool: Place your flowers away from heat sources such as heaters, televisions, or ovens to retain the beauty of your flowers.

Clean Water: Always place your flowers in clean water. Refresh your vase with water daily or at least every second day. 

Gift Boxes

Storage Tips: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to keep contents in perfect condition.

Handling with Care: Handle this box gently so as not to damage the delicate items inside.

Plants

Watering: Ensure your plants are hydrated but avoid overwatering. Check the soil's moisture regularly and water it when the top inch feels dry.

Light: Place your plants in a spot where they receive the appropriate amount of light. Some prefer bright, indirect light, while others thrive in low-light conditions.

Feeding: Feed your plants with a balanced fertiliser every few weeks during the growing season to keep them healthy and vibrant.

Pruning: Regularly remove dead leaves and trim back overgrown branches to encourage new growth and maintain the plant's shape.

Humidity: Some plants thrive in high humidity. If needed, mist your plants occasionally or place a humidifier nearby to create a favourable environment.

Artificial Flowers and Plants

Dusting: Your artificial flowers and botanicals should be lightly dusted regularly with a soft cloth or feather duster.

Light Washing: For deeper cleaning, please use a cloth lightly dampened with water and a small amount of mild detergent. Gently wipe the leaves and petals.

Avoid Direct: Sunlight Do not place under direct sunlight in order to prevent colours from fading.

Fluff and Arrange: Just fluff up petals and leaves to remain fluffy. Set them in position as desired to look natural.
