Fabulous Rose Bowl

Fabulous Rose Bowl: A Hand-Arranged Pink Rose Centrepiece Delivered Same-Day in Cape Town and Johannesburg

A low-and-wide table arrangement of fresh-cut pink roses, snapdragons and statice, layered with locally grown South African penny gum and seasonal wild greenery, set in a clear glass bowl. The Fabulous Rose Bowl is built around a different idea than a bouquet. Where a bouquet sits in a vase and stands tall, a rose bowl sits on a table and stays low — eye-line for everyone sitting around it, not above their heads. It is the arrangement to send when the recipient already has vases full of flowers but does not have a dining-table centrepiece, the office gift that lasts the working week on the front desk, the hostess sends for the friend who is hosting a dinner the night you arrive. Hand-arranged by our florists in our Claremont studio the morning of dispatch. Available for same-day delivery in Cape Town and Johannesburg on orders placed before 12pm Monday to Saturday.

What Is In the Fabulous Rose Bowl

• Fresh-cut pink roses the heart of the arrangement, sat at the centre of the bowl. Soft pink, hand-selected for opening rate so the bowl reads full from day one.
• Snapdragons tall stems that lift the silhouette and stop the bowl from reading flat. Adds movement and architectural height the roses alone do not have.
• Statice small textural blooms that fill the gaps between the roses and snapdragons. Long-lasting and the part of the arrangement that stays the longest.
• South African penny gum locally grown, slightly fragrant native foliage that grounds the bowl in a Cape vernacular rather than a generic florist palette.
• Seasonal wild greenery a small handful of seasonal trailing greens to soften the bowl edge and break the round line.
• Clear glass bowl low and wide, designed to sit on a dining table without blocking sight-lines. Reusable as a fruit bowl, a candle bowl or for future arrangements after the flowers are done.

Care note: the Rose Bowl arrives with water already in the bowl. Top up the water every two days and trim 1cm off the stems at an angle every three days for the longest vase life. Expected display life with care is 5 to 7 days. The penny gum holds the longest and can be dried for keeping after the roses are done.

When To Send the Fabulous Rose Bowl

This is the room-dressing send, not the hand-tie. For an anniversary where the recipient already has a vase she likes but does not have a table centrepiece, our anniversary flowers range covers the bouquet side, and the Rose Bowl covers the table. For a milestone birthday where the gift needs to land at a dinner party rather than at a doorstep, our birthday flowers range pairs alongside. For a Valentine's send to the partner who would rather have an arrangement that lasts a week than a bouquet that needs trimming, our Valentine's Day flowers range works alongside. For a romantic just-because send, our romantic flowers range pairs. For an office desk-drop where the recipient deserves more than a small bouquet but the desk cannot hold a tall vase, our front desk flowers, flowers for clients and hotel reception flowers ranges all build the corporate send. The Rose Bowl is the answer when the question is "what flowers actually work on a dining table?"

Why a Low Bowl Works Where a Tall Bouquet Does Not

There is a category of recipients who already have vases. A second tall bouquet from a friend lands in a vase queue. A low bowl does not. It walks straight to the dining table or the coffee table and sits there, and because it is engineered to be low, conversation goes over it rather than around it. The same logic applies to a front desk or a hotel reception: tall arrangements block sight-lines, low arrangements do not. The Rose Bowl was built specifically for those two cases. The pink rose palette keeps it soft enough for a dinner table without going saccharine; the snapdragons keep it from looking flat; the South African penny gum keeps it grounded in something specific to here; and the glass bowl keeps the whole thing functional rather than ornamental. After the roses are done, the bowl stays useful.

The arrangement for the recipient who already has vases — and does not have a table centrepiece.

How To Place and Care For the Rose Bowl

The bowl is at its best on a dining table, a long coffee table, a kitchen island or a hotel reception desk — anywhere where height would interfere and width is welcome. Keep it away from direct sunlight, hot windows, ripening fruit and radiators (fruit releases ethylene gas which ages cut flowers faster than anything else). Top up the water in the bowl every two days. Every three days, lift the arrangement out, trim 1cm off each stem at a 45 degree angle, refresh the water entirely, and replace the arrangement. Expected display life with care is 5 to 7 days. The snapdragons and statice hold the longest, the roses the shortest. The penny gum can be lifted and dried after the roses are done, and kept as a small dried sprig in a vase for weeks afterwards.

Why Order the Fabulous Rose Bowl From Fabulous Flowers

Fabulous Flowers and Gifts has been Cape Town and Johannesburg's go-to luxury florist since 1999. Our pink roses, snapdragons and South African penny gum are sustainably sourced from local growers we have worked with for years, which is why the bowl reads grounded rather than imported. Our florists hand-arrange each bowl in our Claremont studio the morning of dispatch — the same studio that handles our wedding and hotel installations, which is why the Rose Bowl finish reads installation-quality rather than retail-quality. Thousands of Loox reviews from real Cape Town and Johannesburg customers across our arrangement range. Frequently Asked Questions

What is in the Fabulous Rose Bowl?

Fresh-cut pink roses at the centre, snapdragons for height, statice for texture, locally grown South African penny gum and seasonal wild greenery, set in a clear glass bowl with water. Hand-arranged at our Claremont studio the morning of dispatch.

How much does the Fabulous Rose Bowl cost?

See the current price at the top of this page. For larger custom bowl formats, alternative palettes (white, red, peony) or bulk corporate orders, email hello@fabulousflowers.co.za for a quote.

Can the Rose Bowl be delivered the same day?

Yes, in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Order before 12pm Monday to Saturday for same-day delivery across the Cape Town network (Claremont, Sea Point, Camps Bay, the Atlantic Seaboard and the wider CT region) and across the Johannesburg network (Sandton, Rosebank, Houghton, Bryanston and the wider JHB region).

Can the Rose Bowl be delivered nationwide?

No. Because the bowl is a fresh-floral arrangement filled with water, it is Cape Town and Johannesburg same-day delivery only. For nationwide gifting, browse our wider gift box and hamper ranges, many of which ship to all nine provinces in 2 to 4 business days.

How long does the Rose Bowl last?

5 to 7 days with care: top up the water every two days, trim 1cm off the stems at an angle every three days, keep away from sun and ripening fruit. The snapdragons and statice last the longest, the roses the shortest. The penny gum can be dried and kept for weeks afterwards.

What is South African penny gum?

Penny gum is a locally grown native foliage with small round leaves that resemble pennies in shape. It is slightly fragrant, holds its shape well, and dries cleanly after the rest of the arrangement is done. We use it because it grounds the bowl in something Cape-specific rather than a default imported florist green.

Is the glass bowl reusable?

Yes. The clear glass bowl is part of the gift and stays with the recipient. After the flowers are done, it works as a fruit bowl, a candle bowl, a centrepiece for future arrangements or a small terrarium base.

Can I order this for an office front desk or hotel reception?

Yes. The Rose Bowl is regularly ordered for office front desks, hotel receptions, Airbnb welcome installations and corporate client gifts in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. For recurring weekly or fortnightly installations, email hello@fabulousflowers.co.za to set up a corporate or hospitality account.

What occasions is the Rose Bowl best for?

Anniversaries, milestone birthdays, Valentine's Day, romantic just-because sends, dinner-party hostess gifts, office desk-drops, hotel reception installations, Airbnb welcome arrangements, and any moment where the recipient already has vases and what she actually needs is a low table centrepiece.

Can the palette be changed (white, red, peony)?

Yes, on email request and subject to seasonal availability. Email hello@fabulousflowers.co.za before ordering and we can arrange a white rose + eucalyptus bowl, a red rose + ruscus bowl, a peony bowl in peony season, or a custom palette built around a colour brief.

Fabulous Flowers and Gifts Fresh Flowers Care Instructions

Fresh Flowers

Find a Vase: Your lovely blooms need a drink! Put them in your favourite vase with fresh water as soon as possible.

Trim Those Stems: Keep those stems fresh by cutting them at an angle. This allows more water up the stem. Checking and trimming the stems every few days will keep them sound.

Gently Strip Leaves: Remove any excess leaves, especially from the part of the stem that will be submerged. This helps to avoid rot and bacteria, which can shorten your flowers life span.

Remove Old Blooms: Drooping flowers release ethylene gas, which may accelerate the aging of other flowers. Strip off any dead or dying flowers to keep the rest of the bouquet looking bright and fresh.

Keep Them Cool: Place your flowers away from heat sources such as heaters, televisions, or ovens to retain the beauty of your flowers.

Clean Water: Always place your flowers in clean water. Refresh your vase with water daily or at least every second day.

Gift Boxes

Storage Tips: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to keep contents in perfect condition.

Handling with Care: Handle this box gently so as not to damage the delicate items inside.

Freshening: If your gift includes foods or beverages, please refer to the individual product use-by and expiry dates and the informational materials regarding storage recommendations:

Plants

Watering: Ensure your plants are hydrated but avoid overwatering. Check the soil moisture regularly and water it when the top inch feels dry.

Light: Place your plants in a spot where they receive the appropriate amount of light. Some prefer bright, indirect light, while others thrive in low-light conditions.

Feeding: Feed your plants with a balanced fertiliser every few weeks during the growing season to keep them healthy and vibrant.

Pruning: Regularly remove dead leaves and trim back overgrown branches to encourage new growth and maintain the plant shape.

Humidity: Some plants thrive in high humidity. If needed, mist your plants occasionally or place a humidifier nearby to create a favourable environment.

Artificial Flowers and Plants

Dusting: Your artificial flowers and botanicals should be lightly dusted regularly with a soft cloth or feather duster.

Light Washing: For deeper cleaning, please use a cloth lightly dampened with water and a small amount of mild detergent. Gently wipe the leaves and petals.

Avoid Direct: Sunlight Do not place under direct sunlight in order to prevent colours from fading.

Fluff and Arrange: Just fluff up petals and leaves to remain fluffy. Set them in position as desired to look natural.

Personalize: Gift your flowers, Gift Boxes, and Artificial Flowers and Plants with the Care They Deserve; they will be a Source of Joy and Elegance for you. The charm of fresh flowers, the delight of a thoughtful gift box, and the endless beauty of an artificial plant all special moments created by Fabulous Flowers and Gifts.

Please Note: Due to the seasonal nature of flowers and availability of specific items, the contents of our bouquets and gift boxes may vary throughout the year. We strive to substitute any unavailable items with products of equal or greater value, ensuring that every gift you receive is fresh, beautiful, and of the highest quality.
