Dendrobium Nobile Mix 50cm 2-Spike

This dendrobium nobile orchid is one of the most rewarding orchid plants you can give. Imported directly from Amsterdam as part of our limited consignment, each plant arrives with two thick, bamboo-like canes absolutely covered in plump buds from base to tip - ready to unfold into weeks of beautiful blooms.

What makes a dendrobium nobile so special is the way it flowers. Unlike orchids that bloom only at the tips, nobile buds appear at every node along the length of the cane. As each bud opens over the coming days, the entire stem transforms into a column of delicate flowers. It is like watching a slow, beautiful reveal.

This variety is a colour mix, meaning blooms will open in shades of pure white or soft white blushed with pink and purple at the petal tips. The surprise is part of the charm. Whichever colour emerges, each flower carries the classic nobile shape: rounded petals with a richly coloured lip at the centre.

Standing at 50cm with lush green foliage and those distinctive segmented canes, this dendrobium orchid has a sculptural, architectural quality that sets it apart from the more common phalaenopsis. It arrives beautifully gift-wrapped in charcoal-grey paper with blush-pink trim, ready to hand over without fuss.

A dendrobium nobile plant makes a thoughtful gift for birthdays, housewarmings, thank-you moments, or anyone who appreciates something a little different. With bright indirect light and a cool rest period in winter, this orchid can rebloom year after year - a gift that genuinely keeps giving.

Same-day delivery in Cape Town when you order before 12pm. Limited stock from this Amsterdam import - once they are gone, they are gone.

FAQ

How long do dendrobium nobile orchid blooms last?

Once open, dendrobium nobile flowers typically last four to six weeks. Because the buds open gradually along each cane rather than all at once, the total flowering display can stretch over two months or more.

How do I care for a dendrobium nobile orchid plant?

Place your dendrobium nobile in bright indirect light and water when the top of the potting mix feels dry, roughly once a week. They prefer slightly cooler temperatures than phalaenopsis orchids. After flowering, reduce watering and give the plant a cool rest period over winter to encourage reblooming the following season.

What colour will the flowers be?

This is a dendrobium nobile colour mix, so blooms will open in either pure white or white with pink-purple tones at the petal edges and lip. The buds arrive green and the colour reveals itself as they open, which is part of what makes this variety so exciting to watch.

Can a dendrobium nobile orchid rebloom?

Yes. Dendrobium nobile orchids are excellent reblooming plants. After flowering, keep the old canes in place as they store energy for new growth. A cool, dry rest period over winter (around 10-15°C at night) triggers new bud formation the following season.
