Funeral Arrangements Hand-Tied in Cape Town Since 1999

A funeral arrangement is the piece that sits closest. On the casket. At the altar. Beside the photograph. It is not the public tribute that greets the room at the door, that is the wreath. It is the quieter one that holds the service together. Our Claremont florists have built funeral arrangements for Cape Town families since 1999, and the brief is almost always the same. Beautiful. Calm. Something that lets the family breathe.

When Arrangements Carry What Words Cannot

Choosing a funeral flower tribute is not about getting it right. It is about saying something true at a moment when nothing else feels adequate. A standing spray of white lilies. A small heart of roses for a young child. A graveside posy tied in linen. A handwritten condolence card placed beside it. Every family is different and every loss is its own. Our team will help you decide if you want help. If you already know what you want, we will hand-tie it and have it at the service on time.

Standing Sprays for the Service

Standing sprays are the most requested funeral arrangement in Cape Town. They sit on a tall easel or stand, usually positioned beside the casket or at the front of the chapel. We build them in white flowers, soft cream tones and trailing greenery, finished with eucalyptus, ruscus and a wide linen ribbon. The Elegant White piece and the Classic White bouquet both work as standing sprays when set on an easel. For larger pieces, we work to your brief from the Claremont studio.

Heart Tributes and Casket Pieces

Heart-shaped tributes carry a different weight. They are often chosen by spouses, parents, or children for a parent. We build them in lily, white rose and lisianthus, sometimes with a single colour at the centre to mark something personal. Casket pieces sit directly on the lid and are usually softer and lower than a standing spray. Pair with a peace orchid for the family home, or a sympathy bouquet sent ahead of the service to give the family something to hold.

Graveside Posies and Smaller Tributes

Not every arrangement needs to be large. A small graveside posy, hand-tied in white peonies, stargazer lilies or posies of mixed white blooms, can carry as much feeling as anything on a stand. Mourners often bring single posies to place at the grave themselves. For a more lasting piece at the family home, the Peace in a Jar arrangement or the Peace Be With You piece both sit beautifully on a mantelpiece in the weeks that follow.

White Funeral Arrangements for Quiet Services

White is the language of dignity. Most of our funeral arrangements are built around St Joseph lilies, white roses and chrysanthemums, finished with soft greens. The White Oasis rose bouquet, Pure Snow rose bouquet and Lily bouquet are our most ordered all-white pieces. For families who want something fuller, browse the full white bouquet range or our luxury arrangements.

Same-Day Funeral Arrangement Delivery in Cape Town

Order before 12pm and our florists will hand-tie your arrangement and deliver it the same day across Cape Town, from Claremont, Rondebosch and Constantia to Sea Point, Camps Bay and Hout Bay. We deliver directly to the chapel, funeral parlour, graveside or family home, with the service name and time confirmed by our team. See full options on the same-day flower delivery page.

Choosing the Right Arrangement

If this is your first time arranging funeral flowers, here is what helps. A standing spray for the front of the chapel. A heart tribute for a spouse, parent or child. A graveside posy for a quiet burial. A sympathy gift or sympathy gift box for families further away, which we ship nationwide within 2 to 4 business days. A grief support candle for the family home. Read the power of flowers for guidance on choosing, our flower care guide for after the service, and how to choose a local florist when you want someone close by.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can a funeral arrangement be delivered in Cape Town?

Same day if you order before 12pm. Our florists hand-tie the arrangement in our Claremont studio and deliver directly to the chapel, funeral parlour, graveside or family home anywhere in Cape Town. For Saturday services, weekend cut-offs apply. See all funeral flower options.

Do you deliver funeral arrangements outside Cape Town?

Our hand-tied fresh arrangements are Cape Town same-day only because fresh flowers do not travel well to other cities. For services outside Cape Town, families often choose sympathy gift boxes or sympathy gifts, which we ship nationwide within 2 to 4 business days to most South African suburbs.

What is the difference between a funeral arrangement and a funeral wreath?

A wreath is circular and usually placed on an easel beside the casket or at the chapel entrance, as the public tribute. A funeral arrangement is a vase, basket, urn or standing spray piece carried to the service and placed closer to the family. Many families send both.

What flowers work best for a funeral arrangement?

White lilies, white roses, lisianthus and chrysanthemums are the most traditional. For a younger person, families sometimes choose softer colours like blush pink or cream. For a personal touch, ask us to include the loved one's favourite flower or colour. See the full white flower range.

Should I send an arrangement to the chapel or the family home?

Standing sprays and casket pieces are sent to the service venue. Smaller personal arrangements are sent to the family home in the days before or after. We can deliver to both. Browse personal sympathy flowers for the home and farewell flowers for the wake.

Can you include a handwritten card with the arrangement?

Yes. Every arrangement includes a handwritten message at no extra charge. If you are stuck on what to write, our condolence messages guide has 150 examples across every relationship and faith.

I am ordering from overseas for a funeral in Cape Town. How does that work?

Many of our customers are South Africans living in the UK, Australia, the United States, Canada or New Zealand, ordering for a family funeral back home. Order through our website as normal, include the venue address and service time, and we handle the rest from our Claremont studio. Same-day rules still apply for Cape Town services. See our UK, Australia, Canada and USA pages.

What about flowers and gifts for the family in the weeks after the service?

The weeks after a funeral are often quieter than the funeral itself, and that is when the family most needs to know they are not forgotten. The Inara grief support candle, Garden of Gentle Love arrangement, a peace orchid or one of our sympathy gift boxes can be sent any time in the month that follows. It is one of the most appreciated gestures we deliver.
