How To Care For Your Bouquet

Untie the bouquet on arrival and trim 1 to 2cm off each stem at a 45-degree angle with a sharp knife. Place in a clean vase with cool fresh water and the flower food sachet included. Top up the water every second day and re-trim stems on day three. As the St Joseph lilies open, gently pinch out the pollen-laden anthers with a tissue. This protects the white petals from yellow stains, prevents pollen marks on furniture and clothes, and extends bloom life. Keep the vase out of direct sunlight, away from fruit and away from heat. Are the St Joseph lilies safe for cats?

No. St Joseph lilies (Lilium longiflorum) and all true lilies are highly toxic to cats, including the pollen, leaves and even the water from the vase. Dogs and other pets are generally fine, but we recommend keeping any bouquet out of curious reach.

Does the lily pollen stain?

Yes, intensely. St Joseph lily pollen is a vivid yellow and stains fabric, skin, white petals and surfaces. As soon as the trumpet buds open, gently pinch out the pollen-laden anthers with a tissue. This protects the white petals from yellow marks, prevents stains on clothes and furniture, and extends bloom life. The flowers look just as elegant without the anthers.

Can I order this for a future date?

Trim Those Stems: Keep those stems fresh by cutting them at an angle. This allows more water up the stem. Checking and trimming the stems every few days will keep them sound.

Gently Strip Leaves: Remove any excess leaves, especially from the part of the stem that will be submerged. This helps to avoid rot and bacteria, which can shorten your flowers life span.

Remove Old Blooms: Drooping flowers release ethylene gas, which may accelerate the aging of other flowers. Strip off any dead or dying flowers to keep the rest of the bouquet looking bright and fresh.

Keep Them Cool: Place your flowers away from heat sources such as heaters, televisions, or ovens to retain the beauty of your flowers.

Clean Water: Always place your flowers in clean water. Refresh your vase with water daily or at least every second day.
