"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take"
- Cardinal Mermillod
What does being a mom mean to you? To me, mom is the constant, always there no matter what. She's your greatest champion, biggest supporter, confidant and adviser. She's the one who dries your tears, who's arms are always open. The one who wakes up extra early to lovingly pack school lunches, the one who'll move mountains if she could. And it's only since becoming a mom that I can truly appreciate the enormity of the title - such a small, simple word yet one that holds so much weight. Now that I am a mom, I understand what it means to hold your entire world in your arms, to feel a love so fierce it gives you powers that would rival Superwoman. Motherhood has shown me strengths I didn't know I had, fears I never knew existed and is undoubtedly the greatest adventure I have ever been on.
Anna Jarvis is considered to be the founder of Mother's Day in America. After her own mother passed away, she vowed to dedicate a day to honouring mothers for the sacrifices they make for their children. In the UK, "Mothering Sunday" has been celebrated since the early 1800's and slowly transitioned into what we now know as Mother's Day - a day for children to find a tangible way of celebrating their mothers. While flowers are the most widely given gift on Mother's Day, they are deeply rooted in the tradition of the day with white carnations being the official flower of Mother's Day. During the first Mother's Day celebration, Anna Jarvis distributed 500 white carnations (her mother's favourite flower) to each mother who attended the service and every year after that, the church held up this beautiful tradition. Why white carnations? They are thought to symbolise the virtues of motherhood - whiteness for purity, its lasting qualities for faithfulness, beautiful fragrance for love and its form for beauty. This is such a beautiful story and gives so much more meaning to the giving of flowers on Mother's Day.
Over time different flowers have taken on their own meaning but flowers are still the most favourite gift to give on Mother's Day, a day when you want to give more than just a gift. Beautiful blooms have a message and sentiment behind them to truly make mom's day extra special. This Mother's Day, why don't you spoil you mom with Fabulous Flowers that have a special meaning? Choose the elegant, luxurious rose to represent gratitude and appreciation or an orchid to represent love, beauty and strength. Another perfect pick are tulips to symbolise comfort, warmth and happiness (my favourite flower!)

I love to write! My first year of varisty kicked off with English and writing before I changed majors and chose Organisational Psychology as my career path – a decision I am pleased with but one that doesn’t leave much room for creativity. On my blog, I share my thoughts on my favourite products, tips and tricks, places to go and things to do.
While beauty is my first love, I also like to feature posts on fitness, sweet treats and fashion finds. I have a passion for beauty, baking, travel, good food and wine and living a healthy, active life and I want to share the things that make my heart happy. I am now a mommy to my beautiful baby boy so I’ll also be sharing a little of my journey through motherhood. All my posts are 100% my opinion with the aim of giving you honest product reviews and first-hand real experiences that hopefully keep you inspired and coming back for more!
I live in Cape Town’s beautiful Southern Suburbs with my husband, son and our gorgeous Chocolate Lab, Wellington (my other true love and inspiration behind the name, so be sure to keep an eye out for his cuteness on the blog!) I love summer sunshine, a good book and great coffee. I absolutely love to travel, am a certified chocoholic and shopaholic.
